It was one of those weekends where you are just damn grateful to be alive. The weather was perfect. We hiked, pet a horse, played in the muck, watched garlic grow, banged a big bell, drank lemonade, dyed eggs, had an epic easter egg hunt, had dinner with family and friends, and Sulli took his first co-ed bath. We are not religious in this household so the decision to celebrate Easter has always been a tough one for us. We skipped it last year, but I was inspired by a fellow blogger to do it up this year. Let me tell you, this was by far the best Easter I have ever had. But, I preferred to consider it a day to celebrate our chickens. I hope your Chicken day weekend was good as well.
We went to a fund raiser for the Media Arts program on a ranch in Lolo. Everyone dressed in ranch wear. We found these sweet Wranglers at Goodwill.
This is a good picture, but weird since I don't know these people. They had a cute puppy though and Ben knows them a little, so good enough.
Sulli met an older woman. This is Keegan. She is the daughter of one of Ben's professors and was perfect in her Little House on the Prairie dress and pink boots!
The kids found a river which was really a drainage ditch and was really mucky. Great for rock throwing.
We dyed eggs from our chicks, and store bought because we dyed a lot of eggs. We made dye from blueberries, beets, turmeric, and coffee.
The blueberry and turmeric eggs turned out quite nice. I thought the beets would be red but they were pink. For red, evidently, you need raspberries or cranberries. Next year.
And since we had both boy and girl toys in eggs that looked the same, we needed maps. Ben made these of the backyard, they were awesome.
I love this one
